A Sneak Peek from JJ Brinski & An Urge to Splurge

Welcome to Week 5 of the 2024 Perseid-Brinski Event!

And as promised, here is a sneak peek from JJ Brinski’s book, While the Morning Stars Sang Together. One of my personal favorites… -400°.

-400°

This must be what it is like

on one of those outer ice ball

planets orbiting in the near-dark,

absolutely chilling to the core,

at -400° or some lower,

voided temperature to human

minds. But if this numbed sphere

had a conscience, would

its slow, barely-moving thoughts

rest on a day, long-since

history, where warm

world-spinning hands

fashioned a frozen, dim

thing to rest in hibernation,

awaiting the bright, cresting

dawn of the promise

that all old stars will

be embraced and remember

their names?
