Welcome to Week 4 of the 2024 Perseid-Brinski Event!
It’s time to talk about JJ’s book. This book is the reason we’re having an event this summer. I fell in love with this work and couldn’t wait to offer copies of it to my readers. We’ve had a lot of entries… and I only have two copies to give away… so pleeeeease save this book to your cart or wish list somewhere. Trust me – you’ll want a copy. Without further adieux, here is my unfiltered review of JJ Brinski’s new book of cosmic poetry and flash fiction, While the Morning Stars Sang Together.
***************
It’s hard to do justice to a book this good.
Though we live in a tight-knit community, I had never heard of JJ Brinski before the publication of his book, While the Morning Stars Sang Together. A mutual friend shared Brinski’s book launch campaign on social media and before I clicked the link, I knew I would back this book. I wanted in. I couldn’t wait.
Brinski’s book launch material was both clever and enticing. I wanted every product he created but settled for only a few, knowing the book was the true gold. The packaging, the delivery, and the random hint of his next book – all of it presented a thrilling discovery on arrival day.
JJ’s book does not disappoint. He urges his audience to slow down and truly experience each piece, and then he masterfully crafts glimpses of the universe which are both cerebral and clear. Each piece draws you out of your reading chair and into an encounter with the vast and majestic unknown. JJ serves only as a tour guide, whose presence becomes secondary as he narrates your journey.
For lovers of cosmos…
For lovers of poetry…
And even for our sci-fi geeky friends…
This book is a must.
I am honored to recommend this book to my friends and family, to strangers, to neighbors, to young poets, to old poets, to Democrats and Republicans (who could both probably use a bit more poetry in their lives), and to anyone who has ever looked at the night sky with wonder.
I give it five flaming fireballs.
Oh! And best poem in the book? The James Webb Telescope. Hands down. Well done, JJ! I can’t wait to read the next one!
