Fri, Aug. 10 – Did you ever run away from home?

Did I ever run away from home? Nah. One time, I got into a pretty heated fight with my brother and I left the house. I walked two blocks up the street before I realized I had no intention of going home. It was winter, however, and the sun was setting. My sister wisely came after me and took me for a long drive before going home. That was the closest I’ve ever come to actually running away.

Other than that one brief moment, I don’t think I ever even considered running away. I loved home — which is funny, right? Though economically we were impoverished, my mother filled our home with music and reading and writing and games and Christmas and homemade meals and God’s Word, and there was never a poverty of spirit. I can’t speak for my siblings, but… though I knew we had little, it never struck me as a problem. Mom always made the most of what we had, and it birthed many good memories.

So no… why would I run away when Momma had the hot cocoa mix and the Bach records?
