Wed, Aug. 29 – What makes you unique?

I don’t do well with questions like this. To be honest, I don’t find myself particularly special. Each of us is unique and irreplaceable, of course, but sometimes I have to remind myself that God put me here for a reason. It’s easier to remember that He put you here for a reason! Don’t get me wrong — I’m not being down on myself. I’m just that spectacular. In a monochrome photo of umbrellas, I’m certainly not the bright yellow one.

I suppose if there is one thing that I find different about myself it’s that I believe in the supernatural (and therefore healing) power of music.

For as long as I can remember, I have believed that music is (or can be, or should be) more than organized sound. For as long as I can remember, I have felt as though music was my first language; speech, therefore, felt somewhat awkward. To this day, I find it difficult to speak in instances where song or music might flow with ease.

As a Christian — as a student and lover of Scripture — I have spent years searching and contemplating the role of music in the existence of mankind and all living things. I have spent years poring over passages in the Bible, trying to fit obscure pieces together to understand the importance of music.

Most of what I have come to believe is probably not appropriate for this blog. At least, not today. These are the beliefs, however, that caused such a response in me to the passage I mentioned yesterday — Psalm 65:8 — and stirred me to consider what it might actually look like if a world functioned in that way.

I suppose that’s kind of unique. Maybe? A teensy bit? šŸ™‚

Happy AWACing!
