Mon, Aug. 13 – What would you do if money was no object?
I know that I’m supposed to be noble and of high character and say that if money was no object, I’d give all I had to the poor and keep my OK-but-not-great-paying day job.
Nope. Sorry. I’m not disingenuous enough to lie about this. I would probably quit my OK-but-not-great-paying day job. Don’t get me wrong, I like the people I work with each day and I am good at what I do and I enjoy what I do! Yet, it isn’t a passion. It pays bills (mostly). If money was not an issue at this moment in my life, I would leave my job in a heartbeat. I would invest my time being home and helping my mother through the remainder of her long struggle with infection and pain. The freedom to be home with her would be a blessing beyond words.
When things settled down, if money still was no issue, I would probably not look for work right away. I would love to spend my days writing and plotting and getting my characters into trouble.
But let’s be honest a moment. If I had unlimited wealth, I would have too much. I would long to give to those in need — I think especially of the two amazing boys I sponsor through Compassion International. I would never want to just bury them in money, but I would love to be able to gift them with something more than their basic needs each month and gifts for birthdays and Christmases.
So… sorry to disappoint you all, but… if I fell into a vat of money, I absolutely would quit my job.
Of course… that’s a really easy conviction to have on a Monday morning. š
